MBA Student-Run Consulting Company Meets CEO of The Psychological Center

The Psychological Center, Inc. in Lawrence, Massachusetts

Cambridge College’s MBA Nonprofit Management student consultants met with Carina Pappalardo, CEO of The Psychological Center, on Feb. 2. The students are working on the strategic plan for this Lawrence-based agency through the MBA program's Student-Run Consulting Company. The students got to hear first-hand how the impact of their work can help the agency provide critical services to those who are homeless and suffering from addiction and mental health issues.

“The best way to train future nonprofit leaders is to bring the real world into class. This lets them see, up close, how their work impacts the ability of these agencies to operate – agencies that they hope to lead one day,” said Robert Goldberg, Koch Chair Executive in Residence & MBA Executive Director.  Goldberg, a 30-year veteran in strategy and innovation, started the student-run consulting company back in 2015 to add an experiential dimension to the MBA curriculum that helps students try out new skills and showcase their capabilities to prospective employers.

The mission of The Psychological Center is to help people who are experiencing mental health, substance or alcohol abuse, addiction, homelessness, hopelessness or other issues in their lives so they can respond to and overcome the stressors that they experience in the home, school, workplace and community with resilience and positive coping responses. They are committed to serving these individuals by providing structured and comprehensive environments that offer hope while empowering individuals to achieve recovery with respect and without stigma.

Cambridge College offers the following MBA programs, all designed with a combination of practical skills and academic knowledge to prepare students to thrive in leadership positions in business, nonprofit and government organizations:
