Announcing Dr. Andrew Banasiewicz as Dean ad Interim, School of Business and Technology

Dr. Andrew Banasiewicz

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew Banasiewicz as Dean ad interim of the new School of Business and Technology, effective June 1, 2023.

Andrew Banasiewicz joined Cambridge College in 2018 as an Associate Professor of Business Analytics and was subsequently promoted to full Professor of Business Analytics in 2019; he is also an active industry consultant specializing in risk analytics.

Prior to Cambridge College, Andrew spent several years as an Associate Professor of Practice at Boston University and a Professor of Practice and Director of Graduate Online Data Science and Business Analytics programs at Merrimack College; he also served as a short-time visiting professor at several universities in Europe, Asia, and Australia. Before becoming a full-time academician and consultant, Andrew spent nearly 20 years working in the industry, most recently as a Director of Data Science at Liberty Mutual Insurance and Senior Vice President of Analytics at Beecher Carlson, an insurance brokerage and risk management firm. In those roles, he focused on developing custom, data-intensive decision support systems for large Fortune 500 companies. Andrew is an active researcher and a frequent speaker at conferences around the globe, where he speaks on data analytic innovation, evidence-based decision-making, data-driven learning, and risk estimation. He is the author of over forty peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, several invited book chapters, and seven books, including Evidence-Based Decision-Making, published in 2019, Organizational Learning in the Age of Data, published in 2021, and the soon-to-be-released (July 2023) Data Analytic Literacy. He is currently working on his 8th book, Probabilistic Benchmarking, slated to be released in the latter part of 2024. Educational background-wise, Andrew holds a Ph.D. in quantitative business analysis from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, MBA from Louisiana Tech University, and BS from Northwestern State University. On a more personal level, he is a fitness enthusiast and an avid outdoorsman with a passion for anything outdoorsy and adventuresome, including camping, scuba diving, hiking, and sky diving.

I am enthusiastic about working with Andrew to further the growth of the new School of Business and Technology. He is eminently qualified, and under his leadership, the future of the School of Business and Technology is bright.

We want to thank Joe Miglio for serving in the Acting Dean role for the past few years.
